Career

Terry Gilliam's career is nothing more than remarkable. His first major position was held at a magazine company names HELP! He later became a part of the Monty Python's Flying Circus, 1969. During his time, he was skilled at animation and co-produced, “The Holy Grail", 1975 and "The Meaning of Life", 1983 (Taylor). Gilliam's break up with the Pythons encouraged him to produce his own work, “Jabberwocky”, 1977 and “Time Bandit”s, 1981. The Time Bandits would gross eight times it original budget and several films were nominated for Academy Awards, such as “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen” , 1988, “The Fisher King”, 1991 and the “Brothers Grimm”. Overall his gross at the box office is roughly $26,009,723 (Taylor). Gilliam's also most notable production is directing the “Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”, 2009, and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”, 1998. He has won so many awards; it would take an entire section to name, so here are some beside the Academy Awards:

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)

* Cannes Film Festival Official Selection

The Brothers Grimm (2005)

* Venice Film Festival Official Selection

Tideland (2005)

* San Sebastian Festival Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize

Gilliam's work continues to be watched and receive many awards (Wikipedia).
